Natural Trumpet OBHSTaverns and stagecoach routes configured the Berwicks we know today. At this historical society fundraiser near the old Portland Turnpike, discover the dining experience of our region’s 18th century travelers. Unwind as the tavern patrons might have with a tankard of a fine rum punch. Take pictures in front a vintage carriage. Enjoy the hospitality of the inn holder as he offers you his 18th century food and beverages, and provides you with music of the 18th century.
“We are proud to have Gary Loiselle from the Wentworth by the Sea Country Club, and chef and cookbook author Christopher Viaud as our guest chefs, along with the fabulous chefs from the Outlook,” said Paula Bennett, organizer of the event for the society. Bennett has cooked many 18th century meals as part of her research journey for her book Imaging Ichabod, which was released in 2016. She will have copies of the book at the dinner available for purchase and signing.
The chefs will prepare a three-course, historically-based, 18th century meal featuring multiple dishes at each course. A sample of the dishes includes: Oyster Ragout, Pork Pie, Roast Leg of Veal with Sherry & Onions, and Yankee Cakes with Raspberry Jam & Nutmeg Cream.
Complementing the meal will be beverages from Tributary Brewing Company and North Country Hard Cider. “We are grateful to have these beverage makers back for a second year,” said Nicole St. Pierre, President of the society. “They paired their beverages perfectly to the meal last year. We are eager to see what they do this year.”

Thanks to Paula Bennett and The Red Barn at Outlook Farm for hosting!
